Saved by a Gospel Outreach worker

COLUMBIO, Tampakan, Philippines—My name is Lot Malasugui. I came from a large family. My father had two wives, and my mother was the second one.

At first we were happy, but that started to change when my father’s first wife died. We moved to a new place and started to live a very different life.

My father stopped working. He gambled and came home drunk. He would hurt us. My mother tried to hold things together, but one day she left us.

I took care of the 3-month-old twins. My father became even harsher. Finally, even though I did not want to leave the twins, I was forced to do so.

I got in a truck and rode to another town but did not have money to pay for the ride. The fare collector grabbed me. I cried and prayed silently to God to save me. Then a tall man began talking to the fare collector, and they reached an agreement.

When he heard my story, the man—Gospel Outreach worker Sammy Tambunan—gave me food and took me to his house.

A big miracle happened the next day. A woman came to visit Sammy. I could not believe my eyes. She was my long lost aunt. I cried and told her what had happened. She thanked Sammy for his kindness and invited me to live with her in her house.

The sad part of my life ended. My aunt is a Seventh-day Adventist, and she taught me more about God. Life is indeed wonderful if we surrender and trust God with everything. I want to serve Him until He comes.
