COLLEGE PLACE, Wash.—How do you share the story of Jesus with people who don’t read? That’s the challenge among the 880,000 Maasai who live in Kenya, Africa. They are a nomadic tribe that herds cattle, sheep and goats. Most of the Maasai have no formal education. They learn by word of mouth.
In their area is a free dental clinic. The dentists at the clinic hand out audio players that tell the story of salvation in the Maasai language. Many people have chosen to follow Jesus as a result.
Eight Seventh-day Adventist pastors serve this area. One of the pastors is translating the Old Testament so it can be included on the audio players. Funds are needed for this project, and please keep it in your prayers.
