God Calls Samuel

When Boddu Narayana was born in a remote village in India, no one would have guessed that one day he would be a mighty worker for God. Boddu was still quite young when missionaries came to his village and turned the hearts of his parents to the Lord. They were anxious for Boddu, now named Samuel, to be brought up in the Lord’s way of life. So in 1983 they enrolled him in an Adventist kindergarten school. When it was time for Samuel to begin primary school, the tuition was too expensive … [Read more...]

Here’s how to revitalize and strengthen your church

Sometimes people express concern that money sent to foreign mission fields comes at the expense of local church needs. We believe the opposite is true. Ellen White offers this counsel: “The home missionary work will be farther advanced in every way when a more liberal, self-denying, self-sacrificing spirit is manifested for the prosperity of foreign missions; for the prosperity of the home work depends largely, under God, upon the reflex influence of the evangelical work done in countries … [Read more...]

Share the light in Africa

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash.—How do you share the story of Jesus with people who don’t read? That’s the challenge among the 880,000 Maasai who live in Kenya, Africa. They are a nomadic tribe that herds cattle, sheep and goats. Most of the Maasai have no formal education. They learn by word of mouth. In their area is a free dental clinic. The dentists at the clinic hand out audio players that tell the story of salvation in the Maasai language. Many people have chosen to follow Jesus as a … [Read more...]

KATHMANDU, Nepal—Children’s literacy centers have been started in 11 different places, and we’re in our second year. I recently baptized a 12-year-old boy named Samir, who has been attending our literacy center in Nepaltar in the evening after his regular school. He was impressed with the way our facilitator began the class with prayer, songs and stories from the Bible. Samir began to attend church. Soon his whole family became interested in Jesus and His love. All have accepted Jesus. … [Read more...]

Growing in the love of Jesus Christ

SAHJANKALA, India—I was born and brought up in a Hindu family. I never heard about Jesus Christ, that He is God Himself. Recently there was a meeting conducted by Ajay Kumar, a Gospel Outreach Bible worker. He was preaching with the mighty power of the Holy Spirit. About 70 people were listening very carefully. I attended this meeting. An interest was created within me, and day after day I attended. Ajay was preaching from Ezekiel 28:15-17, Genesis 3:1-5 and Genesis 3:17-19. I realized I was … [Read more...]
