SERBIA
by Nemanja Boricic
A tangible testament to the prayer activities of the groups I’ve led is the YouTube channel I started about psychology and spirituality. It now has almost 24,000 subscribers and 170 videos. Many people from various areas tune in to watch.
I’m a psychologist by education and also a Bible student. I’m convinced that a person must first of all understand why he lives—what is his purpose—before he can function effectively in practical life. On my channel, I explore this in greater detail, and it has hit a responsive chord with a number of people. Praise God.
One day, our church required a repair for its marble floor. I dialed a contractor’s number, introduced myself and explained the need. To my surprise, the voice on the other end asked if I was Nemanja Boricic from YouTube and if the work was for an Adventist church. As we talked, I discovered he and his family were regular viewers of my channel.
He expressed his desire to assist with the flooring and said he was looking forward to our in-person meeting. His son subsequently arrived with a crew, dedicating nine meticulous hours to restoring the floor to its former glory.
As the crew worked, I learned more about this family’s history. During his military service 40 years prior, the father had been baptized in our church in Bosnia but had since lost touch. Despite his distance from the church, he taught his three children about God and His love for them, guiding them toward the Bible and prayer. When he discovered my YouTube channel two years ago, he felt a renewed spiritual interest, leading him to stop smoking and stop using alcohol. He told his children more about God. His daughter even started attending our church in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.
After the floor restoration was complete, the family declined payment, saying that the honor of serving us was payment enough. They extended an invitation to their home, which I was happy to accept.
Our visit spanned five hours, filled with a delicious meal, prayer and the sharing of personal testimonies. The father, a prominent figure in the community, promised to arrange opportunities for me to share the gospel with his influential acquaintances.
This entire experience left me in awe and gratitude for the Lord’s leading in our lives. And I praise Him for the unexpected blessing too. ◼
