Out in a pasture, a shepherd found a half-buried jar containing gold and silver coins. Carefully he hid the jar in his clothes and brought it home. Making sure no one was around, he went into the bedroom and was counting the coins when his wife happened to see him.
Immediately, a demon entered her. It shrieked, “I will not leave you. I am the god of money. I will kill you. I need money.”
From that day, the demon often would possess the woman. She would disrobe, fall to the ground and hit her head with stones. Sometimes she would viciously bite people around her. No one could control her. Her husband sought help from many people, but to no avail.
Then, one day, someone suggested he go to Joseph, the Adventist man. Many had been healed by his prayers. So the man took his wife to the Adventist church on a Wednesday evening at prayer meeting time. As the couple entered the building, the wife began to shout and tried to run out of the church.
The members held the woman and began to pray. Joseph addressed the demon and asked its name. The demon responded, “I am the god of money. I will not leave this woman.”
Joseph commanded the demon: “Our God is the God of gods. You cannot escape from Him. He will cast you out of her.”
The members prayed all night. By morning the woman was calm, but she stayed in the church for a full week. The members took turns staying with her day and night. They prayed, read and sang. The woman would listen awhile, then she would fall to the floor. Finally, she began joining the believers in saying, “Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!”
At the end of one week, the demon could stand it no more. It caused her to shout, then cast her to the floor and left. The woman got up and asked, “Why am I here? What happened?” The members explained everything to her, then they went with Joseph to her home. The couple and the church members removed all idols from the house and destroyed them.
Now husband and wife are learning about the God who is stronger than demons—the God who loves them. They look forward to becoming members of His family.
