“For God is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken” (Psalm 62:2).
It all began with a long walk through muddy roads, carrying a student who was in dire need of medical attention. She was suffering from a painful boil, a high fever and skin rashes. The journey was exhausting, and each step felt heavier as her condition worsened. But we pressed on, determined to take her to the doctor.
Halfway to the hospital, the unexpected happened—the student collapsed right on the muddy path. Panic filled our hearts as we stood helpless for a moment, not knowing what to do. We had no vehicle or means of transportation. All we had was faith and the will to carry her ourselves.
Human ambulance
With no other option, I quickly grabbed my phone and called for help. Meanwhile, we turned ourselves into a makeshift human ambulance, lifting her with all our strength and continuing the journey on foot. The road was rough, and the weight of the situation pressed on us, but we prayed fervently, asking God to intervene and protect the student.
Just as it seemed all hope was lost, God answered our prayers. We arrived at the hospital, and the doctors rushed her into the emergency room. They looked after her immediately—administering medicine to ease her fever and treat her rashes and infection.
Within hours, her condition began to improve. The boil started to heal, her fever broke, and the rashes subsided. We were overwhelmed with gratitude for God’s mercy and the swift response of the medical staff. What could have been a life-threatening ordeal became a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
As the student rested in her hospital bed, safe and on the road to recovery, we knew that it was only by God’s grace that she had been spared from danger.
Trouble strikes again
However, the trials were not over yet. The very next day, during the school’s flag ceremony, another student—Marichu—suddenly collapsed. The teachers and students sprang into action, knowing the nearest hospital was an hour away.
With no vehicle available, we quickly decided to use the same human ambulance method, carrying her ourselves. The task was grueling. As we made our way through the streets, concerned people stopped to ask what had happened. We kept moving, determined to get her the help she needed, all the while praying for strength and her recovery.
After what felt like an eternity, we arrived at the hospital, and Marichu was rushed into the emergency room. The medical team worked swiftly, running tests and diagnosing her with measles. Although we were exhausted, we were relieved to know that Marichu was now in good hands, receiving the care and treatment she needed.
Never alone
Throughout this ordeal, we were not alone. Friends, missionaries and even strangers came forward to help, offering their support and encouragement. Their kindness and prayers uplifted us during those challenging moments. It was a reminder of the power of human connection and the importance of caring for one another.
With God’s guidance and the help of these compassionate individuals, Marichu is now well on the road to complete recovery.
Though the situation seemed overwhelming and I felt devastated by the events, I never lost hope. I knew God had not abandoned us. When we call upon His name, He answers—even in the most difficult circumstances.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever” (Psalm 107:1).
Looking back on these experiences, I am filled with gratitude. God’s mercy carried us through the trials, and His protection never left us. We are thankful for His presence every step of the journey and for the people He sends to help along the way.
Truly, God has done great things for us, and we give Him all the glory.
