I own a small shop in Narayanpur, a village about 20 kilometers from Varanasi, India. This shop is my only source of income, and through this business I take care of my family.
One day Sanjay Kumar, a Gospel Outreach Bible worker, came to my shop. My wife had gone to her parents’ house, so I was working the shop by myself.
Sanjay began talking with me. I was an atheist and had no faith in God or any supernatural power. We talked about his beliefs and who Jesus is.
I asked him to show me Jesus Christ. Sanjay patiently continued his talk and told me if I earnestly desired to see Him, then I surely would see Him. Sanjay handed me a New Testament.
That night I held that book in my hand and started to read the first few chapters. It really aroused my interest as I read about Jesus’ genealogy, His birth and His divine power as revealed in these chapters.
I continued to read and felt some power by which I could clearly understand what I was reading. When I read His promises I felt happy. Every day I looked forward to evening when I could sit and spend time with the Bible. I was fascinated by the miracles Jesus performed during His ministry.
Excited, I rang up my wife and asked her to return home with the children. When they came I told them about what I had discovered while reading the New Testament. Each evening we sat together, read from the Bible and repeated the Lord’s Prayer.
As days passed by we studied about the Ten Commandments, the Sabbath day, tithes and offerings. After Bible studies with Sanjay, I knew who Jesus is. I kept my shop closed on Sabbath and attended prayer meetings. Now I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
My family and I joined the Adventist Church through baptism. Our lives changed. My children, Jahanavi and Kunwar Jaun, sing songs in prayer meetings, including:
My little heart is dancing
Because Jesus loves me so.
He bears our burden,
My little heart is dancing.
Amen. Jesus loves me so. My heart is dancing too!
