WALLA WALLA, WA
It’s December—a very busy and festive time of year. I love the Christmas carols, the smell of evergreen boughs adorning the fireplace mantle, the anticipation of celebrating with children and grandchildren around the Christmas tree, the traditional church nativity plays, and all the sights and smells that go with this celebration of the birth of Jesus. I am so thankful for God’s gift of Jesus that gives me hope in this sinful world.
Like me, I am guessing that you are busy working on your Christmas list, addressing Christmas cards, and writing letters to your family and friends. And since God has given us the greatest gift of all in Jesus, I plan to put Him at the top of my list.
This December issue marks my one-year anniversary as volunteer editor of Adventures in Missions. Through this experience, I have learned a lot about Gospel Outreach, its mission, and the miraculous way God is working in the lives of our indigenous Bible workers and the people living in darkness without hope in the 10/40 Window.
In my view, there is no better place to invest your money than by supporting more than 2,000 Gospel Outreach evangelists, who already know the language and culture of the people where they minister. We employ local workers for a fraction of the cost of expatriate missionaries. Therefore, your donations are supporting many more Bible workers than would otherwise be possible.
Why do I believe supporting Gospel Outreach is such a sound investment?
The main reasons for me are because Gospel Outreach is run by volunteers and there are no mortgages to pay. This is unique among mission organizations and ensures that the highest percentage of your donations goes directly to support mission outreach.
We have a responsibility to God, to you, and to our workers in the 10/40 Window to use every penny as efficiently and wisely as possible.
There are several ways you can support the Gospel Outreach mission:
PRAY
Be a prayer missionary on behalf of the 10/40 Window. Pray for the people who live there. Pray for Gospel Outreach workers.
GIVE FINANCIALLY
Send a check donation by mail.
Give online with a credit card, or use an e-check (which will send your gift directly from your checking account).
Give automatically online with a recurring monthly gift, saving you time and postage.
Call our office and give over the phone by credit card.
ADOPT A WORKER
We invite you, your church, your Sabbath school class, Pathfinder club or any other organization to sponsor a specific worker for $150 per month. With your commitment to support one or more workers for a year, we’ll send you the name, location, a photo, and progress reports of your worker.
BE AN AMBASSADOR
As an ambassador, you will share the story of Gospel Outreach and its mission with the members of your church; receive brochures, DVDs and other promotional materials to share with your church members; and invite people to participate in our ministry.
My husband, Jim, who is also a Gospel Outreach volunteer, and I will soon be discussing our Christmas gift for Gospel Outreach. As we look back on our lives this year, we have so much to be thankful for—celebrating 50 years of marriage, continued good health, and precious family and friends.
I invite you to count your blessings, too, and join us in giving a generous “thank you” gift to Jesus by supporting our Gospel Outreach mission in the 10/40 Window. There will be tens of thousands of people in heaven to thank you.
